One of the best things about starting Holt Farm has been to get to know lots of other local producers. Whilst some are neighbours, friends or even household names, we have discovered many others and often from the very best source - word of mouth and recommendations. As farmers, we are always keen to have a ‘nose over the hedge’ to discover what’s going on and finally we have an excuse. (Mum used to say the best thing about taking the horse out for a ride was the opportunity to see over people’s hedges – Sorry Mum!).
What is truly inspiring is how many dedicated, innovative, skilled and wonderful producers Essex and Suffolk has to offer. The lockdown and pandemic have seen many of these small and passionate producers step up and make a difference. Working with us to provide an alternative to the ubiquitous supermarkets, together we have discovered that we can offer an incredible range of food & drink, supporting local producers and allowing our customers to choose to support local, reduce plastic & food miles and contribute to the local economy.
We think that is something pretty special.

We pride ourselves on bringing you local produce from Essex and Suffolk. So ‘Why have guest producers?’ When we wander around a farmer’s market, we expect most of the produce to be local, but we have to confess to being a bit of a fan of the little olive stall or someone selling Fairtrade chocolate from Peru etc. However, we think there must be a valid connection or relationship with the producer.
This is where our Guest Producers come in. Over the years we have developed friendships, partnerships and joint ventures with a handful of like-minded producers. Whether it is our customers who use our own fruit or veg to create their delicious products, fellow growers passionate about shared interests or flavour fanatics working with us to introduce new crops to the UK. We are sure you will love the very special products of theirs that we can deliver to your kitchen.
