Price adjustments

Pete Thompson16 April 2020

It’s been almost a month since we launched our new fruit & veg box delivery business, Holt Farm. We have been overwhelmed by the support we’ve received from customers across the Colchester area and are now receiving hundreds of orders a week.

It’s been a steep learning curve for us. Transforming our business from farmers and growers supplying wholesale, to selling direct to the public.

It was our ambition from the start to run this business on a cost neutral basis to ensure local people could access fresh food and to keep our staff employed.

The market prices for fruit and vegetables are changing daily and we’ve already seen significant increases since we started a few weeks ago. Together with learning the true cost of packing and delivering our boxes, this means that reluctantly we will be increasing the prices of fruit & vegetable boxes to £12.50 for a small box, and £17.50 for the large box (a £2.50 increase on both).

We realise that at this time we are all trying to save money and cut costs and we hope that you will accept this small price increase which reflects the increased costs we’re facing.

We’re also working on a new way to offer a regular weekly subscription to our boxes so you don’t have to place a new order every week.
